We Support Animal Medical Care, Socialization, and Adoption Screening to
Ensure Perfect Pet Matches

Formed in 2001, The Friends of the Scituate Animal Shelter is an all-volunteer organization governed by a board of directors. Many of its members were people who volunteered at the shelter on an individual basis for years. The organization’s founders felt that as a group, they would be more effective in fundraising efforts and, as a result, be better able to improve the lives of the animals at the shelter. In March 2002, the organization was granted 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service.

To improve the lives of the animals at the Scituate Animal Shelter and to assist animal welfare groups in caring for animals in a humane and compassionate manner.
We allow for cats and dogs to socialize, help finance their medical treatments, and assist in the screening of potential pet adopters to maximize the probability of a good match between pets and their new homes.

While we're a small rural shelter we make every effort to make our friends as comfortable as possible. If you're visiting we can be reached from most parts of the state within 30 to 45 minutes. Please feel free to visit, but we urge you to call first so we can make sure someone is here to meet you in person. We look forward to it!
Here is where two friends in the making get to have a little fun in the Shelter Yard. The larger white male is named Theo, and the smaller white and brown girl is named Ellie. This is the first time we've introduced the two and they appear to be doing just fine.
Just a simple quick run in the yard for Ellie. She runs as far and as long as we can let her. Just a sweet addition to those looking for a home.
Your monetary donations help to pay for medical care for animals and to fund building improvements that make the shelter a healthier, safer place for the animals who reside there. We thank you in advance for any donation!
